Since his entry onto Chicago’s party scene in the 1980s as a disciple of legendary house DJ Frankie Knuckles, dance music producerLono Brazilhas made his way around the world and back again. Now based in Miami – where he has spent lockdown beachside – Lono, who moonlights as a model, walking for names from Ermenegildo Zegna to Yohji Yamamoto, has no intention of staying still. His happy place? 30,000 feet in the sky.

What is the place you’ve been dreaming of travelling to since lockdown began? Where is next on your bucket list?

I have a place in Holland. I love Amsterdam! It’s the epicentre of all things dance music. I’ve been a dance music producer for many years and finally found a place where the culture thrives and the scene is solid.

What is the hotel you keep returning to, and what makes it special?

Nobis Hotel in Stockholm. It’s like my second home. I also love Scandinavia and Scandinavian design – this hotel is quintessentially Scandinavian. And, to top it off, there is an Acne Studios store on the property!

What’s your go-to flying outfit?

Hoodie, sweatpants, socks and slides. Easy peasy!

What’s your favourite beach in the world?

Well I live on the beach in Miami so this is a tricky question! As much as I love my place in Miami my favourite beach is in the small village of Garraf, Spain – just a 15-minute drive from Barcelona El Prat airport. It’s a small and intimate bay that brings you back to the Fifties.

Before we stopped traveling, what was your last duty-free purchase?

A pair of Hermès black cap-toe lace-ups at Heathrow airport, an iPhone 11 at Amsterdam Schiphol and an Aperol spritz bar set at Milan Malpensa!

What will we always find in your beach bag?

MD Solar Sciences SPF Mineral Crème, my swim trunks, gold aviators, a bottle of alkaline water, hand sanitiser, an extra mask and baby wipes.

Who is your favourite travel companion and why?

Me! I travel alone most of the time. My career takes me all over the world. I relax better than anywhere at 30,000 feet – it’s the time when I can shut the world out and be alone in my thoughts, and not distracted for six hours, sometimes more…

What part of your grooming routine do you skip on holiday?

I never skip! It’s a habit now. I am a creature of habit. Even during quarantine, I did my daily routines even though I did not leave the house sometimes. Good habits are hard to break and I believe in staying ready!
