Daron Bailey’s career began at cult youth culture mag Dazed and Confused; fifteen years on,  he’s consulting for clients from Gucci to Coach. Here, the creative producer – whose love of travel has seen him traverse the world, from Morocco to Tel Aviv – tells us how he’s fulfilling his wanderlust in lockdown, and where he’s dreaming of heading when it’s all over.

What is your favourite summer destination? At SMR Days, summer is all year round, so if it’s hot it counts...

Neve Tzedek in Tel Aviv, one of the coolest, most beautiful places I’ve visited in the last few years.

Travel can currently only be done in our imaginations. If you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would you be?

Probably one of my favourite places that I’ve been to in the last few years – Marrakech or Tel Aviv. I’ve also got very fond memories of Barcelona…

Do you have plans for travel once lockdown is over? Where is next on your bucket list?

I plan to take my daughter to Isla Mujeres for her second birthday next March.

How are you fulfilling your wanderlust while in lockdown?

I’m mainly rewatching old films that take me back to a place, time or event.

What do you miss the most about travelling?

The exploration of places that I’ve not been.

What’s your favourite beach in the world?

Jerusalem Beach in Tel Aviv.

Who is your favourite travel companion and why?

My wonderful partner. From our very first holiday together, it was clear that we were the same (travel) person.

Which three items do you always pack in your suitcase, regardless of where you’re traveling to?

Black swim shorts, Canon AE1 film camera, and my 11-month-old daughter Winnie!

What would you never wear on the beach?

Always shorts, NEVER Speedos.

What’s the ideal holiday activity level?

I love to walk on holiday. My favourite thing is to walk, explore, get lost and observe…
